Biden Refuses To Decrease Oil Prices Because Of ‘Climate Concerns’

The Biden Administration this week turned down the argument that increasing the production of domestic oil would help bring down the price of gas, as the price of oil heads toward record highs.

Crude oil prices went up as high as $130.50 a barrel this week..

White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of speaking points on social media, arguing against the attention on increasing oil production in the U. S.

“It is a reminder that real security of energy comes from lowering our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, saying that Russia continuing to invade Ukraine is causing an increase in the prices of oil.

Psaki pushed back against the Republicans asking for more production of domestic oil.

She argued that the production of domestic oil was up following the coronavirus pandemic but that the U. S. was still vulnerable to the global oil markets.

“Domestic production has not protected us from the cost of fossil fuels or the ideas of the ones that control them, such as Pres. Putin,” she said. “Americans know that.”

President Biden’s administration is searching diplomatic shifts with countries that produce oil including Venezuela, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, as Russia’s recent Ukrainian offense has disrupted oil markets.

But Psaki argued that to stop using oil is the only way to really be free from the high gas prices.

“Becoming energy independent is the only way to be protected over the long term,” she wrote, pointing to Joe Biden’s efforts on subsidizing solar and wind.

The White House continues to struggle to explain the decision of the president to stop the Keystone XL pipeline project, trying to shut down drilling permitting on federal land, and the decision to suspend the drilling leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

In his State of the Union speech, Pres. Biden admitted that gas prices were increasing, but offered electric car subsidies as a solution.

He asked for Congress to assist him in “lowering the price of electric vehicles, that would save you $80 per month because you will never have to pay for gas again.”

Joe Biden also said that he would keep releasing oil from America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve, even though it did not affect gas prices very much.

“I know the news about what is going on can seem scary,” he said. “But I want you to know that we are going to be okay.”
