As Vice President Kamala Harris continues her historic fall from grace in the Democratic party – yet another of her senior advisers has decided to quit the team – announcing she will be on her way out at the end of the year.
Symone Sanders, who serves as a senior adviser to Harris as well as her chief spokesperson, is planning to part ways with the VP at the end of the year.
“Symone has served honorably for 3 years,” a White House official said. “First as a valuable member of the President‘s 2020 presidential campaign, then as a member of his transition team and now deputy assistant to the President and senior advisor/chief spokesperson to the Vice President.”
The White House official also said that President Biden and Harris “are grateful for Symone’s service and advocacy” and said she “will be missed.”
The official said 31-year-old Sanders will be “working through the end of the year.”
The departure is one of many signs that Harris’ team is fed up with what has been reported to be a very toxic management style and it marks the second top Harris aide to announce they were quitting in the past month alone.
Just two weeks ago, it emerged that Harris Communications Director Ashley Etienne had resigned. The White House claimed that Etienne was leaving “to pursue other opportunities.”
“Ashley is a valued member of the Vice President’s team, who has worked tirelessly to advance the goals of this administration,” a White House official said. “She is leaving the office in December to pursue other opportunities.”
The resignation by Etienne, came after a report exposed Harris’ office as being quite the dysfunctional place.
The report, which unbelievably enough was drafted up by CNN, detailed that the VP’s aides are “worn out” by “entrenched dysfunction and lack of focus.”
The report also added that the Vice President and her allies are not satisfied with her current role. Nearly three dozen former and current Harris aides, administration officials, Democratic operatives, donors and outside advisers reportedly revealed to CNN that “many in the vice president’s circle fume that she’s not being adequately prepared or positioned, and instead is being sidelined.”
“The vice president herself has told several confidants she feels constrained in what she’s able to do politically. And those around her remain wary of even hinting at future political ambitions, with Biden’s team highly attuned to signs of disloyalty, particularly from the vice president.”
The CNN piece touched a nerve in the White House, with press secretary Jen Psaki tweeting out a defense of the vice president that appeared to be in direct response to the article.
Psaki said in her tweet, “For anyone who needs to hear it. @VP is not only a vital partner to @POTUS but a bold leader who has taken on key, important challenges facing the country—from voting rights to addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband.”
Harris’ approval rating has sunk into the 20% range and a number of people both inside and outside of the White House have questioned her competence as a whole.
Harris – who was once a potential Democrat frontrunner for a potential presidential nomination – has proven herself to be a complete and utter disaster.
